Massage

"Architect of his own body, man alone is fully responsible for his health."

--Nelly Grossean

At Touch of Nature, our goal is to aide your body with a series of treatments of remedial massage through professionally designed techniques, hands on awareness and experience, through soft tissue (non-aggressive) manipulation. I do not believe in the theory, "No pain no gain" and would recommend that we do not use excessive over applied pressure in our treatment plans.

The first step to a healthy mind and body is understanding the lifestyle choices that contribute to overall wellness. Correct posture is essential to your spinal cord, a balanced diet, regular enjoyable exercise (1 hour per day) and stress reduction are all important factors.

Massage image Damage is caused by external, internal factors including strain, overuse, emotional distress, poor nutrition, poor posture, exposure to cold temperatures, lack of regular exercise and trauma all play a role. The damaged area at times completely heals, if this is not possible then pain and discomfort become chronic. If persisting conditions are left untreated, abnormalities such as dysfunction of the musculoskeletal and nervous system can develop, causing pain, tingling, numbness and limited mobility

As the tissue works to heal itself, inflammation in the area causes the neuromuscular junction to become very sensitive and irritable. The hard lumps (commonly referred to as knots), under the tissue is called a trigger point. Recovery begins following evaluation and treatment by a professional. Questions included are in reference to the symptoms, past health problems or injuries, family history of disease, work habits, daily activities and sleeping positions.

Massage image The mind learns through associations, interpretation and emotions. There is the moment when you and your neuromuscular system become one. Movement occurs when the brain sends a signal, a nerve impulse, through the spinal cord to a target muscle. Full range of motion can be achieved without discomfort or pain, only when the damaged or unhealthy muscle tissue is healed. You see when you experience body injury, clearly from an action point of view, what you have done physically (eg. over exercising) can be isolated, the muscle group identified and the pain alleviated!

The physical examination is done to analyse your posture, spine and your joints movements. A radiograph (X-ray) may be recommended to aide diagnosis. When the examination and evaluation are complete, the health care professional can discuss your condition and prescribe a treatment plan that will meet your particular needs.

The moral to this story is you can book yourself in for a regular treatment of massage therapy, and you won't be complaining or experiencing these outcomes, which hands on therapeutic touch can remedy. (Regular massages are recommended treatments every 2-4 or in 6 week intervals. This maintains and improves your muscular, skeletal, immune, nervous system and overall wellbeing)
